SAFETY.
The British
Fencing Association (BFA) is the main regulatory body for sword
fencing in Britain. From time to time, the BFA issues Rules (which
must be followed) and Guidelines (which are discretionary) together
with other helpful advice.
At Loughton
Fencing Club the Rules, Guidelines and Regulations are followed
closely, not just to ensure the safety of sword fencers, but also
because the club's insurance policy requires adherence to these
documents.
Although Loughton
Fencing Club provides information, all sword fencers are expected
to familiarise themselves with the Rules, Guidelines and Regulations
of the BFA, which can be conveniently consulted by visiting the
BFA website. A link is contained in the "Links" section
of this site.
If you have
any questions, we are only too happy to try to answer them, if necessary
by contacting the BFA itself to seek clarification.
Anyone sword
fencing at Loughton Fencing Club is required to sign a document
which acknowledges that they understand that there are risks and
that they will act reasonably and obey all safety instructions.
